SPARK – Spreading Postive Acts of Random Kindness
February has long been seen as the month of love, and this year, a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens are working to add a whole lotta love to this short but sweet month. After reading about a wonderful project called RACK – Random Acts of Christmas Kindness (http://tsjphotography.com/blog/random-acts-of-christmas-kindness-summary) a new idea was “SPARKED”. Why not make February truly into love month and make the world just a little better and a little brighter by Sharing Positive Acts of Random Kindness. I try to live & share this philosophy through the classes I teach here at Music Movement and More but was intrigued when a group of her fellow health coaches decided to make this an all out effort.
Stephanie Golka, a friend from California & mom of 4 took charge and began making it a possibly that we could spread this SPARK across the country. ~ The ideas started with things like paying for the order of a person behind you in a drive-through line, but they quickly accelerated to ideas that required more time than money, simple acts of kindness such as carrying the trash cans out or back for an elderly neighbor, letting someone go before you in a line, or other small gestures. Be a blessing to someone just for the JOY of doing it!
To give the movement cohesion, Golka designed cards that can be printed out and then handed to the recipient or left with a gift item. The cards read: “You’ve been SPARKed!” and they explain the movement. The bottom of the card reads “Creating the world we want to live in.”
Locally, the girls participating in my YogaDance classes will be SPARKING as a way to practice kindness. “You always seem to get back so much more when you give freely, with no expectation of anything in return.” I will also be offering it to the local schools and encourages everyone everywhere to get involved. “It is so refreshing to hear of good things happening and it is contagious! When you change the way you think, you change the way you live!”.
Join us in Sparking the Metro West. Send me a email to get involved and you can report your acts of kindness here. This may just be the SPARK needed to change the world ~ one person at a time. . PinterParsons teaches not only music and movement classes but also workshops on Dreaming Big and Living Your Best Life. “This is a movement that I hope catches on and stays. People’s lives can possibly be changed forever ~ both the receiver and the giver. That to me is what life is all about.” For more information contact Pamela at 508-277-9230.
