Baby Yoga with Amy Harper
Wednesdays 9:30-10:30 starting June 5th
For babies ages 3-weeks to almost crawling
This is a calming and nurturing yoga practice full of ways to enhance bonding and make babies happier and more comfortable in their bodies. This class contains dozens of unique yoga postures designed specifically to soothe and support the development of a baby’s body. During class, the baby is mostly lying on her tummy, back or in a parent’s arms. For parents, this class gives the special time necessary to bond with and learn about your baby’s emerging personality. Most of the yoga is for the child, but you will learn breathing and relaxation techniques as well as practice some yoga yourself (no yoga experience required).
Tiny Dancing Yogis with Amy Harper
Wednesdays 11am-noon starting May 22
For Tots who are almost walking to 3 years of age.
Introduce your child to new rhythms and movements as we dance, play, and explore yoga in this fun filled class! This class will get both you and your tot moving. Using different activities and creative props, your tiny dancing yogi will begin to develop fine and gross motor skills while improving balance and coordination. Our class will also teach the value of taking turns and working together. Care-takers will love participating as they play with their “tiny” dancing yogi. Come join the fun!
FAQ
What do you do in class?
Each week you and your child will get a chance to explore a variety of instruments including shaker eggs, drums, castanets, bells and rhythm sticks. A typical class includes marching, singing, playing instruments and finger plays. We also incorporate scarves, parachutes, bells, and stuffed animals into the class to help show children steady beat as well as give you tips on how to incorporate music at home.
What is your philosophy?
Make music fun and find ways to do it every day! You will sing old classics and recite well-known rhymes but will also be exposed to new songs, finger plays and ways to incorporate music in a way that is enjoyable to all! There are theme weeks where certain music is features including, but not limited to, World Music, Showtunes, the 80’s, African Music and Classical Music. Most importantly, if you have fun…your child will too!
What age should my child be to start classes?
The younger the better! Think how much a child changes in the first year of life! Their brains are amazing at absorbing information and storing it. Research shows that early exposure to music opens parts of the brain that otherwise wouldn’t develop. That’s not to say that if your child is 3 or 4 years old, you are too late. Now is the time, no matter what their age.
Birthday parties.
Music, Movement and More can help make your child’s birthday party very special! We provide 45 minutes of their favorite songs and instruments to make the day memorable! Parties can be held either at your home or at our space. Call for details!
